2 new IT projects invite fund applications

*

Applications for funding support are being invited for two new items under the Innovation & Technology Fund programme.

Projects on 'media technologies for digital entertainment' and 'air quality improvement' are being solicited, and applications will close October 31.

'Media' projects submitted should be enabling technologies and methodologies to support the development of Hong Kong's digital entertainment industry, in particular the software development and production of digital animation, video and online games, and multimedia based information delivery services.

Assistant Commissioner for Innovation & Technology Brian Lo said Hong Kong has the capability and talent as well as the environment to produce innovative and high quality digital entertainment content.

To leverage and realise Hong Kong's potential in developing digital entertainment as a high value-added industry, he said there is a need to further facilitate development of digital effects, computer animation and games.

The issuing of the theme will help the industry upgrade its technology and provide new services and products.

'Air' projects should develop practical and cost-effective technologies that can help address air pollution problems, in particular street-level pollution and indoor air quality.

The fund aims to increase the added value, productivity and competitiveness of Hong Kong's economic activity.

The Government hopes that through the scheme, Hong Kong companies can be encouraged and assisted to upgrade their technological level, and introduce innovative ideas to their businesses.

Applications are invited twice a year. All application proposals must be submitted electronically.
