A campaign to offer special discounts and privileges to visitors has been launched by the HK Tourism Board.
The campaign, which began yesterday, enlists the support of airline companies and the travel sector, offering special discounts in dining, entertainment and shopping.
To publicise the campaign, each visitor arriving at the airport and other entry points will receive a Welcome Pack, which contains a Welcome Passport and Hong Kong travel guides.
Over 30 board staff have been stationed at HK International Airport to offer the Welcome Pack to visitors.
Speaking to reporters today, the board's Executive Director Clara Chong said 20 hotels and two airlines, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair, have joined in the promotion.
"From today the Welcome Pack will also be available in 20 hotels in Hong Kong and we will continue to encourage more hotels to join in to promote the campaign and its various offers," Ms Chong said.
The board has also sent copies of the Welcome Passport to its worldwide offices for distribution by its travel partners so that visitors are aware of the discounts and privileges in advance.
The board expects that the campaign will attract two million visitors.
