Manufacturers' orders fall 11% in May
*

The value of manufacturers' orders-on-hand for local production fell 11% in May compared with a year earlier, the Census & Statistics Department says.

The electrical products industry had the largest decrease at 33%. Declines were also seen in the electronic products, fabricated metal products, plastic products, and textiles industries.

However, the value of orders-on-hand in the printing and publishing and wearing-apparel industries increased 6% and 1%, respectively.

After seasonal adjustment, the value of orders-on-hand for the three months ending May fell 1% compared with the three months ending February.
