More than 110 Hong Kong exhibitors are showcasing their jewellery designs and capitalising on new business opportunities at a trade show in Las Vegas.
The JCK Show - Las Vegas 2003, which opened on May 30 and runs until June 3, enables Hong Kong traders to network with their customers and prospective buyers.
Hong Kong exhibitors initially were told that they would not be allowed to partake in the event due to the SARS outbreak.
With concerted efforts and communication, such s through the Commerce, Industry & Technology Bureau, the show organiser and US authorities eventually reversed their decision.
The Centres for Disease Control & Prevention has written to assure the show organiser that segregating exhibitors from SARS affected areas who have no fever or respiratory symptoms is unnecessary.
Hong Kong exhibitors have also undertaken to take all necessary precautionary health measures.
The JCK Show is one of the world's leading jewellery fairs. Last year, it attracted some 2,700 exhibitors and 20,000 buyers from around the world.
