Australia, too, lifts HK travel advisory

*

Australia joins several other countries who have cancelled travel restrictions on Hong Kong in the wake of the World Health Organisation's decision last Friday to lift its Hong Kong travel advisory.

Countries which have lifted their Hong Kong travel advisories include Switzerland, the UK, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Portugal, Austria, Singapore and the Philippines (for maids coming to Hong Kong).

Welcoming Australia's move, the Government said the speedy move of these countries has been encouraging and would help restore the confidence of international travellers as well as overseas investors.

The Government said Hong Kong's environmental hygiene has been greatly improved recently, adding that it will continue the 100% cross-border screening for all travellers to live up to its commitment not to export SARS to other countries.
