Civic education curriculum framework revised
*

The Moral & Civic Education Curriculum Framework has been revised and will be implemented in the 2008-09 school year, the Education Bureau says.

In the revised framework, examples of "life at work" are provided to help Secondary 4 to 6 students adapt to working life in future. The revised framework also sets learning expectations for students at key stages for schools to conduct holistic Moral and Civic Education curriculum planning.

To keep pace with societal changes and the implementation of the New Senior Secondary Curriculum, 'integrity' and 'caring' will be added to the five existing priority values - 'perseverance', 'respect', 'responsibility', 'national identity' and 'commitment'.

The framework also encourages schools to integrate more closely elements of values development and national education into the school curricula and the other learning activities.

The bureau held a seminar on the topic for primary schools today. It will hold another seminar on May 9 for secondary schools. For more details, click here.
