Gifted education academy unveils emblem

The Academy for Gifted Education has chosen its official emblem through a logo and letterhead design contest.

Ng Siu-yin won the contest's open section, and her design will be adopted as the school's official emblem.

"In my design, there is a kid surrounded by the letter 'A' and a ring which symbolises the academy and its full support for gifted children," she said.

The contest, organised by the Education Bureau to commemorate the academy's set up, offered a platform for students and professionals to display their talents in art and design. It attracted more than 200 entries.

The adjudication panel, comprising design experts, commented that the entries were generally of high quality and the winning designs were vivid and fascinating. A champion, first and second runners-up and 10 merit prize winners were selected from each of the open and secondary sections.

St Rose of Lima's College F4 student Wong Hiu-Fung won the contest's secondary section. Her design brings out vividly the mission of the academy.

"My logo design consists of a face and the image of a planet in the universe in bold outline. The universe in the person's brain symbolises the talent and unlimited potential of humans. The arrow at the bottom represents the academy's support for students with hopes and dreams," Miss Wong said.
