educational package on climate change

New school kit: The Hong Kong Observatory has produced an educational package on climate change to enhance student awareness and understanding of the issue.

*

The Hong Kong Observatory has produced an educational package on climate change to enhance student awareness and understanding of the issue.

Presented in Chinese and English, the package includes a DVD containing an animated cartoon, a booklet, a CD-ROM containing PowerPoint presentations and facts on climate change, as well as another DVD containing Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth.

The PowerPoint presentations, with different versions for primary and secondary schools, help teachers explain the basic science of climate change, its impact and the mitigation action people can take. Brief notes are also provided to help teachers make the presentation.

The package will be distributed to schools by the end of this month. The Education Bureau will organise seminars to introduce how teachers can incorporate the package into classrooms.
