Application procedures for Primary 1 places in government or aided schools under the Primary 1 Admission System next year have started. Parents can obtain application forms at kindergartens, childcare centres, District Offices and the Education Bureau's Regional Education Offices and School Places Allocation Section from September 10 to October 5.
All Hong Kong children born on or before December 31, 2002, are eligible to join the Admission System, provided they have not attended any primary schools and have never been allocated a Primary 1 place.
At the Discretionary Places Admission stage, the choice of schools is not restricted to the school net in which the child resides. However, parents are strongly advised to take account of possible transport problems. Completed application forms should be submitted directly to the school chosen on September 28 or from October 2 to 5.
Only one application should be submitted for each child. If parents are found to have applied to more than one government or aided primary school, their application for a discretionary place will be rendered void. Applications with false residential addresses to secure a place will also be rejected. People can report suspected cases by calling 2832 7700.
The application period for Central Allocation is from September 28 to January 25, 2008. Parents can return completed forms to the Education Bureau's School Places Allocation Section, 2/F Lui Kee Education Services Centre, 269 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai.
