Job fair to offer 3,700 vacancies
*
Labour Department

A job fair will be held at Central Library from September 5 offering more than 3,700 vacancies. The free fair is open 11am to 6pm.

Forty-two companies, mainly from the retail, catering, property management and banking and insurance sectors, will set up counters offering 3,200 vacancies. Special panels will also be mounted to display 500 vacancies from 18 other companies.

The vacancies include managerial and frontline positions such as managers, shop supervisors, manager trainees, customer service officers, sales, waiters, shop assistants, security guards, cooks, aircraft maintenance craftsman trainees, flight attendants, computer professionals and engineers.

About 95% of the vacancies are full-time jobs with salaries ranging from $5,000 to $11,000. Most of the positions require Form 5 education or below. More than 50% are open to people without relevant experience. Job-seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews.

The Employment Retraining Broad will accept applications for retraining courses, and the Labour Department will conduct on-the-spot registration for applicants.
