About 92.7% of candidates have attained the basic proficiency requirement in classroom English-language assessment, according to the latest teachers' language-proficiency assessment results.
The Education & Manpower Bureau said 1,836 candidates sat for the English papers while 2,209 sat for the Putonghua papers in the assessment held in February.
For English papers, the percentages of candidates attaining level three - the basic proficiency requirement for language teachers - were 78.8% in reading, 38.3% in writing, 80.4% in listening, 47.7% in speaking, and 92.7% in classroom-language assessment.
For Putonghua papers, the percentages of candidates attaining the basic requirement were 39.6% in listening and recognition, 56.5% in Pinyin, 35.6% in speaking, and 83.4% in classroom-language assessment.
Re-checking applications to open
The Examinations & Assessment Authority has mailed to candidates the results notices. Those who do not receive the results by Wednesday should call 2239 2771.
Applications for re-checking results will be accepted from May 8 to 15. Candidates will be informed individually of their appeals results by May 31.
The coming language-proficiency assessment will be held in February 2008. Details will be made available in the 2007-08 school year.
