2,000+ to join aerospace lectures
*

More than 2,000 students and teachers have enrolled in two popular science lectures on China's development in aerospace technology organised by the Education & Manpower Bureau tomorrow.

The lectures aim to arouse students' interest in studying science, raise their awareness of the nation's technological development and strengthen their sense of national identity.

The two lectures will be held at ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School in Yau Ma Tei, starting 9.15am and 2.15pm.

Lecturers include:

* China's Manned Space Flight Project rocket system chief designer Long Le-hao, spacecrafts and satellites production chief engineer Professor Wu Dian-lian; *

* China's Manned Space Flight Training Centre's vice chief engineer Professor Wang Xian-min;

* Beijing Aerospace Command & Control Centre's vice chief engineer Professor Wang Ye-juan; and

* China Science & Technology Museum curator Dr Wang Yu-sheng.

In the morning session, the aerospace experts will present prizes to student winners of the "The Launching of Shenzhou 6" essay competition. They will also launch the "Space Dream - History of Human Space Exploration" roving exhibition for schools.

During their stay, the experts will visit some schools to meet parents, students and teachers, and get a look at the local science and technology education scene.
