Construction safety award scheme launches

Labour Department

Construction contractors, sub-contractors and site personnel are invited to join the Construction Industry Safety Award Scheme 2005-06 to be launched October 17.

 

All participants must prove they have not recorded any serious or fatal accidents or received any Labour Department Suspension Notices in the past 12 months.

 

Entries for the site-based awards will be divided into five categories - Building Sites (Public Sector), Building Sites (Private Sector), Civil Engineering Sites, Building Sites (Sub-contractors) and Civil Engineering Sites (Sub-contractors). There will also be awards for Safety Teams and Safe Workers.

 

Entries for site-based awards and safety team awards close October 31. The results will be announced in March. Enrolment forms and entry requirements are available at the Occupational Safety & Health Branch's offices and the Occupational Safety & Health Council. Enrolment forms can also be downloaded from the department's website. Enquiries can be made on 2852 3565.
