Six winning teams of the Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition 2005 have left for Shanghai to attend the 2005 Shanghai International Youth Science & Technology Exhibition from July 12 to 15, at the invitation of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.
Students from 15 countries or regions will participate in the exhibition, which is hosted by the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission and Shanghai Municipal Educational Commission with the theme 'Science & Technology with Our Life'.
The Innovation & Technology Commission said the Hong Kong delegation, comprising 29 students from the winning teams, will show their winning projects in a science and technology exhibition.
They will also participate in science and technology exchange programmes including discussion forums, visits to universities/museums/scientific research and development centres in Shanghai, as well as cultural and social activities.
Pre-tour training sessions enhance understanding
To better equip the students for the exhibition, they underwent a series of pre-tour training sessions and visits to Hong Kong's science and technology institutes in early July. The moves aimed to enhance their understanding of science and technology development in Hong Kong, and sharpen their social and presentation skills, the commission said.
The delegation, led by two representatives from the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and accompanied by six teachers of the winning teams, will return to Hong Kong on July 16.
The Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition 2005 is organised by the commission, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and the Education & Manpower Bureau. Details are available here.
