6 students join international maths contest
*

Six students have been commissioned to represent Hong Kong in the 46th International Mathematical Olympiad in Mexico from July 11 to July 19.

 

More than 80 teams of up to six members from around the world will take part.

 

The six Hong Kong representatives are Chung On-yip of Queen Elizabeth School, Jack Hui and Siu Ho-chung of Queen's College, Poon Ming-fung of STFA Leung Kau Kui College, Tsoi Yun-pui of Sha Tin Government Secondary School and Wong Chiu-wai of St Joseph's College.

 

Prizes have also been given to honour students who have made outstanding achievements in mathematics, including the winners of an olympiad preliminary selection contest held on June 5.

 

A total of 752 students from 162 schools participated, and 10 were given a gold award, 21 a silver award and 37 a bronze award.
