Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Council fellowships and scholarships for overseas study for the 2006-07 academic year, including the award for disabled students, will open July 2 and close September 30.
Successful candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to Hong Kong and be ready to contribute significantly to the community. They will be required to work in Hong Kong for at least three years upon graduation.
The fellowships are for studies leading to postgraduate degrees either by research or by coursework, while the scholarships are for studies leading to undergraduate degrees.
The value of fellowship is $251,000 per year for up to three years for doctoral degrees or two years for master degrees. The value of scholarship is $232,000 per year for up to three years.
Short-listed applicants will be interviewed in December and January, and suitable applicants will sit for the final interview in February and March. For the Overseas Fellowship-Scholarship for Disabled Students, short-listed applicants will be interviewed in February or March.
