Secondary School profiles 2004-05 released
*

The Committee on Home-School Co-operation today released the cyber version of the Secondary School Profiles 2004-2005 to assist parents in making choices of secondary schools in the 2003-2005 cycle of the secondary school places allocation system for their children.

The profile covers more than 460 secondary schools in Hong Kong with basic information such as school characteristics, facilities, class structure, extra-curricular activities, fees and the language proficiency standard of in-service teachers as at September 6 this year.

The profile, commissioned to the Hong Kong Education City, helps parents obtain school information easily through the hyperlink to the homepage of individual schools and the search function. Schools also can update their information on the Internet directly.

The cyber profile has been well received by parents. From December 2 last year to November 9 this year, the number of page view reached 17 million (more than 50,000 per day) and the number of visitors was more than 850,000 (more than 2,400 per day).

P.6 students get printed version

Current primary 6 pupils will get copies of the printed version of the profiles for schools in the districts where they live through their primary schools before December 20.

Two full sets of the printed version will be placed in each primary school for parents' reference on schools of other districts. Copies will also be placed at District Offices, public libraries, the Education & Manpower Bureau's Regional Education Offices and Parents Centre of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation for public reference.

For enquiries, please call Regional Education Offices (Hong Kong: 2863 4646; Kowloon: 2782 8383; New Territories East: 2639 4876; and New Territories West: 2437 7272) or the committee's secretariat (2782 7165, 2782 7641 or 2782 5864).
