Students learn crime consequences
*

About 140 students from four Southern District secondary schools attended an interactive forum organised by the Correctional Services Department today. They took part in activities encouraging them to make the right choice against committing a crime.

Launched in December, this is the eighth Options in Life forum. About 1,800 students from 78 secondary schools and non-government agencies have taken part so far.

Aimed at reducing juvenile delinquency and providing opportunities for students to gain an insight into the consequences of crime, participants are inspired to react and discuss how to make a right choice through specially designed peer group activities.

Two rehabilitated young offenders attended the forum to share their experiences of rehabilitation.

The department hopes it will teach people more about rehabilitated offenders' determination to turn over a new leaf, and encourage their acceptance amongst the general public and social reintegration.

The next student forum will be held in Tsuen Wan next month.
