Quality Education Fund to invite applications
*

A new round of applications for grants from the Quality Education Fund will start on November 1 and close on December 31. "School-based Management" and "Learning &Teaching Effectiveness" have been designated as two priority themes.

Quality Education Fund Steering Committee Chairman Tai Hay-lap said projects under the theme of "School-based Management" should aim to develop effective school-based management systems or models for school improvement and development.

Projects under the theme of "Learning & Teaching Effectiveness" should be targeted at enhancing the quality of learning and teaching, improving student learning outcomes and stretching students' potential.

All proposals welcome

Mr Tai said proposals other than those under the two priority themes would also be considered.

The Fund is open to all for applications including schools, tertiary institutions, individuals, public bodies and non-governmental organisations.

Projects will generally be awarded a maximum of $500,000, while those with exceptional merits could receive a maximum of $5 million.

Application forms will be available from the Quality Education Fund website.  For enquiries, please call 2921 8833.

Since the setting up of the fund in January 1998, a total of six calls have been conducted with approved grants totalling about $2.9 billion for almost 4,900 projects.
