Irving Koo to head examinations authority
*

Irving Koo and Cheung Pak-hong have been appointed chairman and deputy chairman of the Examinations & Assessment Authority for a three-year term from September 1.

Mr Koo is an Education Commission member, chairman of the Working Group on the Review of the Academic Structure for Senior Secondary Education & Interface with Higher Education, a University Grants Committee member and the former Quality Education Fund Steering Committee chairman.

Meanwhile, Carmel Holy Word Secondary School principal Kwok Wing-keung has been re-appointed for another term of three years.

Secretary for Education & Manpower Professor Arthur Li said the rich experience in the educational field the appointees possessed will help steer the authority's future development.

He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the retiring members, in particular Dr Joseph Chow and Rosalind Chan, for their contribution as chairman and deputy chairman over the past years.

The new office will adopt the consultant's recommendations in the Strategic Review report released in May, strengthening the authority's role in assessment policy and improving its internal operations.

In addition, the authority and the Curriculum Development Institute will forge closer collaboration, with a focus on new developments in assessments.

Authority members now include: Irving Koo, Cheung Pak-hong, Chan Wing-kwong, Dr Anissa Chan, Kwan Chuk-fai, Kwok Wing-keung, Magdalena Mok, Or Choi-kuen, Pang Shuk-mei and Yip Chee-tim.
