New appointment: Dr Edgar Cheng has been appointed Chinese University Council Chairman for three years.

Dr Edgar Cheng has been appointed Chinese University Council Chairman for three years, taking over from Dr Lee Hon-chiu from October 24.

 

Dr Cheng, Chairman and Managing Director of the World-Wide Investment Company, was the University Grants Committee Chairman and a member of the Research Grants Council in the 1990s. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Council for Sustainable Development.

 

He has close affiliation with the tertiary education sector and has extensive experience in community services. His appointment will be gazetted tomorrow.

 

The Government welcomed Dr Cheng's appointment and believed the university led by Dr Cheng will scale new heights in the years to come. The Government also praised Dr Lee's work saying that under his leadership, the university has made noteworthy achievements in research and scholarship.
