Hong Kong and Guangdong will join hands to promote endangered species protection by organising drawing contests.
The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department is organising an Endangered Species Protection Drawing Contest for primary and secondary students.
A similar drawing contest will be held in Guangdong Province for Mainland students.
Some species of wild fauna and flora are at the brink of extinction due to habitat destruction and over-exploitation for international trade. The drawing contests will promote sustainable use of these rare resources.
Results of the drawing competition will be announced in August.
Trophies will be given to the first three winners of both primary and secondary divisions, who will also receive book coupons worth $1,000 to $3,000. Schools with the most participants will be awarded a book coupon of $5,000.
Winning entries of both drawing contests will be displayed at roving exhibitions in Hong Kong and Guangdong.
Details of and entry forms for the contest are available on the AFCD Endangered Species Protection Division's website at www.cites.org.hk. For enquiries, please call 2150 6974.
