Scholarship boosts HK-Belgium ties
*

The Belgium-Hong Kong Society will continue its support of a scholarship that allows Hong Kong students to study in the prestigious College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.

Society chairman Piet Steel, who was also the Belgian Consul-General in Hong Kong from 1993 to '97, said the scholarship helps promote educational and cultural exchange between the two places.

It also provides a unique opportunity for students to be exposed to a dynamic and multicultural environment in the College of Europe.

The scholarship was established in May last year. It will cover the full course fees (including board and lodging) for a Hong Kong student to undertake a nine-month Master's Degree in European Studies at the College.

Selection committees will be formed in Hong Kong and in Belgium to evaluate applications.
