Red rainstorm warning
*
Morning and whole-day schools suspended
*

The Hong Kong Observatory dropped all rainstorm warning signals at 3.20pm, however the thunderstorm and landslip warnings remain in force.

The Education & Manpower Bureau announced at 6am that as the red rainstorm warning was in force, all schools would be suspended today.

The Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, the VTC School of Business & Information Systems, all development centres and training centres will also be closed this afternoon. All internal examinations will be postponed.

10 temporary shelters open

Ten temporary Home Affairs Department shelters have been opened for people in need of temporary accommodation.

For details, please contact 2835 1473.

Parents are advised not to take their children or family members to child care centres, elderly services centres and day rehabilitation units including sheltered workshops and day activity centres.

These centres will, however, remain open to serve those whose families cannot provide alternative care for them.

Thunderstorm & landslip warnings in force

Pedestrians should avoid walking or standing close to steep slopes or retaining walls. Motorists should avoid driving in hilly areas or on roads with landslip warning signs until the rain has eased.

Signs of landslip danger should be reported to the nearest police station.
