Career conference set to woo back local talent
*

About 150 Hong Kong students studying in Canada will partake in a cross-continent videoconference this Saturday to explore career opportunities here.

The Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Canada is organising the event which supports Chief Secretary Donald Tsang's population policy of encouraging foreign-trained Hong Kong talent to return.

It is the first ever cross-continent career videoconference for Hong Kong students, and they are studying in universities in the greater Toronto area and southern Ontario.

Distinguished guest speakers in Hong Kong will share with the students the career opportunities their specific sectors offer, and provide invaluable advice on the job market. There will be a Q&A session to answer students' queries.

Deputy Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology Raymond Young and Toronto Economic & Trade Office Director Rosanna Ure will host the conference.

Speakers will include Eden Woon of the HK General Chamber of Commerce, Charles Mok of the HK Information Technology Federation, Daniel Chan of the Dao Heng Bank, and Raymond Woo of Cathay Pacific.

The conference will be broadcast live online by RTHK from 8am to 9.30am.
