About 1,700 of the latest job vacancies will be showcased at the Employment Information Expo 2003 this Wednesday, where job seekers can submit their applications on the spot.

Organised by the Labour Department and the Employees Retraining Board, the vacancies offered cover include jobs such as restaurant manager, shop manager, engineer, computer technician, property management officer, shop assistant, sales assistant, laboratory assistant, waiter/waitress, repairer, security guard and domestic helper.

About two dozen companies from different industries and trades - including catering, retail, property management, IT and communications and manafucturing - will recruit staff at the venue.

The expo will feature a Mainland Employment Information Pavilion. Visitors can browse the department's special webpage for Mainland employment to get more in-depth knowledge of the employment situation there.

The Employees Retraining Board and 10 retraining institutes will provide course information and accept on-the-spot registration.

The event takes place in the Exhibition Gallery on the ground floor of the Hong Kong Central Library in Causeway Bay, from 10.30am to 6.30pm. Admission is free.
