Gov't to tackle property market misconduct

CE on radio talk show
On air: Chief Executive Donald Tsang (centre) speaks on a Commercial Radio talk show.
*

Chief Executive Donald Tsang has vowed the Government will take action against "abnormal" transactions in the property market.

Speaking on a Commercial Radio talk show today, Mr Tsang said he understands public concern about property prices and closely monitors the development of the market every day.

He said the Government will take action against abnormal transactions or market set-ups, adding a series of measures have been implemented and supply of land has been raised to stablise property prices.

When asked about Home Ownership Scheme flats, Mr Tsang said the decision to suspend their building came after a long review. Although policies are not rigid, the Government must handle the issue with extra caution to avoid any negative impact on the property market, he added.

Mr Tsang said he is always fighting for the best for Hong Kong, adding his top target is to develop the city into a renminbi offshore centre. He also encouraged young people to look for jobs on the Mainland.
