Donations sought to rebuild quake-hit areas
*
Home Affairs Department

People are invited to make donations to the newly-established Trust Fund in Support of Reconstruction in the Sichuan Earthquake Stricken Areas.

The 20 public enquiry service centres of the 18 District Offices and all post offices will receive donations during office hours. For more details, click here.

Since the focus of support work has shifted from relief to reconstruction, "The Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporated - Donations" bank accounts set up to receive donations for Sichuan earthquakes relief operations will be closed on August 1.

About $210 million has been raised so far. Most of the donations received have already been transferred to five relief agencies - Hong Kong Red Cross, World Vision Hong Kong, Oxfam Hong Kong, United Nations Children's Fund, and The Salvation Army - for carrying out relief operations.

The Home Affairs Department will pass the rest of the donations to the agencies after the accounts are closed.
