Three new members - Amanda Liu, Irene Yau and Paul Chan - have been appointed to the Consumer Council, the Commerce & Economic Development Bureau says.

The other seven council members - Raymond Choy, Ernest Ip, Brian Li, Allen Ma, Anita Ma, Prof Wong Yung-hou and Lily Yew were re-appointed.

The bureau today expressed gratitude to three retiring members - Dr Elizabeth Shing, Peter Sun and Dr John Wong - for their contribution. They have served the council for six years and will complete their terms on December 31.

Meanwhile, the bureau also announced the re-appointment of 16 members to the Appeal Board Panel under the Toys & Children's Products Safety Ordinance.

They are Chairman Cleresa Wong, Deputy Chairman Samuel Chan, and members Samson Chan, Bill Chan, Chang Hon-tak, Dr Chen Ke-zhang, Stella Hu, Mary Lee, Li Li-man, Prof Man Hau-chung, Dr Matthew Ng, Prof Bertram E Shi, So Chiu Lai-ching, Prof Xu Yang-sheng, Yeung Chi-kong and Danny Yuen.

All appointments and re-appointments for the Consumer Council and Appeal Board Panel will start from January 1, 2008, for two years.
