Anson Chan has won Sunday's Legislative Council Hong Kong Island geographical constituency by-election.
A total of 321,938 constituency electors cast their ballots, representing a 52.06% turnout.
Vote counting concluded at 2.55am today. Mrs Chan got 175,874 votes and beat the other seven candidates vying for the seat. For details of the results, click here.
The Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Bureau congratulated Mrs Chan on her election and said it looks forward to working closely with her and other lawmakers on issues across the board.
Speaking after the announcement of the election result, Electoral Affairs Commission Chairman Justice Pang Kin-kee said the counting of votes was efficient and the overall electoral arrangements were satisfactory.
The commission will review the electoral arrangements and look into areas for improvement. A report will be submitted to the Chief Executive on matters relating to the by-election within three months.
