Donald Tsang mourns Cha Chi-ming
*

Chief Executive Donald Tsang has expressed his profound sadness at the passing of Cha Chi-ming.

Noting Mr Cha has made an invaluable contribution to Hong Kong's reunification with the Mainland and the drafting of the Basic Law, Mr Tsang offered his condolences to Mr Cha's family.

"He has also played a leading role in Hong Kong's economic takeoff. We are most grateful for all his efforts in ensuring the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong," Mr Tsang said, adding that Mr Cha will be fondly remembered for his contribution to Hong Kong.

He was a member of the HKSAR Preparatory Committee, a member of the Basic Law Drafting Committee and a Hong Kong Affairs Adviser. He was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 1997.
