Dr Raymond Wu has been re-appointed chairperson of the Community Investment & Inclusion Fund Committee. Sophia Kao, a member of the committee since its establishment three years ago, was appointed vice-chairperson.
Five new members were also appointed to the committee, including Tony Chow, Kwan Chuk-fai, Dr Lam Ching-choi, Betsy Lau and Stephen Ng. The appointments take effect from today for a three-year term.
Seven existing members were also re-appointed for a two-year term, while three others stepped down, including Christine Fang, Julita Lee and Gloria Ng.
Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food Dr York Chow noted the committee is made up of representatives from a variety of social backgrounds. He looked forward to the new members' contribution and the continued promotion of social capital in Hong Kong.
About the new members
Mr Chow is an appointed district councillor of Wong Tai Sin District and the chairman or president of a number of industry organisations. He has rich experience in organising youth activities at district levels.
Mr Kwan is the general manager for corporate communication at NWS Holdings Ltd. He also serves on the Social Welfare Department's sub-committee on the promotion of corporate volunteering and has been an active member in promoting volunteer work in the business sector.
Dr Lam is the chief executive of the Haven of Hope Christian Service which provides welfare and health services. He is also a member of the Sai Kung District Council with experience in mobilising support from local groups in developing community projects.
Ms Lau is managing director and chief executive officer of Bank Consortium Trust Company Limited. She is familiar with the CIIF and the concepts of social capital.
Mr Ng is the community services secretary of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals which has first-hand experience in community projects. He is also a member of the Social Welfare Department's sub-committee on the promotion of corporate volunteering and has served in other welfare-related committees such as the Social Welfare Advisory Committee.

The $300-million CIIF was established in 2002 to encourage mutual concern and help among people, develop community support networks and promote community participation. The CIIF committee considers and approves funding for applications and advises the Government on the development of social capital.
