Time to go online!: The Government is considering charging e-Government services users less to promote the use of its online services. |
|
To encourage use of Government online services by the public, the Commerce, Industry & Technology Bureau is studying the possibility of charging e-Government services users less.
The bureau said users should pay less because the operation costs of online services are lower.
The Government will continue working with its partners under the Electronic Service Delivery scheme to introduce more incentive measures and special offers to promote the use of e-Government services.
Although some people feel the Government should cut part of its counter services to boost the subscription of its online services, the bureau said the issue should be further studied.
The Government will ensure that residents who do not use online services can still be able to use public services.
Speaking on the progress of the e-Government programme, the bureau said 86% of the public services that can be put online already have electronic versions.
The Government expects that 90% of its services, which can be put online, will have their online versions by the end of the year.
