Power of equality: Retired Justice of Appeal Michael Wong is the new Equal Opportunities Commission Chairperson.

*

Retired Justice of Appeal Michael Wong has been appointed Equal Opportunities Commission Chairperson for three years, from August 1.

Patricia Chu and Professor Nelson Chow have also been appointed as commission members for two years.

Since retiring from the Court of Appeal, Mr Wong has been involved in community services, including those for the disabled.

Under his leadership, the commission will continue to uphold the principle of equal opportunities and meet new challenges ahead, the Government says.

The Government also thanked outgoing chairperson Anna Wu for her valuable contributions in the past four years, saying her achievements in promoting equal opportunities for all are well recognised.

The appointment notice will be gazetted on July 4.
