Hong Kong people are welcome to visit the Mainland despite concerns over atypical pneumonia, Premier Wen Jiabao said today.
Mr Wen said the Central Government will rectify the different policies in handling Hong Kong visitors in some regions of the country.
"If those provinces want to protect Hong Kong peoples' health, the only thing they need to do is to take some precautionary measures," he said, adding that he will look into the situation.
Speaking to reporters in Bangkok today, Mr Wen said Hong Kong's virus outbreak is stablising and he hopes that authorities will work hard to prevent it from recurring.
The Chief Executive also expressed his great concern over the issue at a press breifing this afternoon.
Forbidding peoples' entry or departure is not an appropriate way to contain the spread of the disease, he said, adding that the most effective means is to implement proper boundary quarantine measures.
Mr Tung said the Central Government has endorsed Hong Kong's work and measures taken in the virus fight.
Quoting Mr Wen's remarks made yesterday, Mr Tung said "we should be rational, and support and unity are more important in times of difficulty".
