Secretary for Home Affairs Patrick Ho says that since he became a Principal Official, he has had no private time, no privacy, and no private opinions.

Despite that, he says joining the Government has been a good choice as it allows him to serve the community.

In an interview with news.gov.hk, Dr Ho said taking up the job has left him very busy.

"I have spent all my time studying policies under the purview of the Home Affairs Bureau, meeting colleagues and sharing my point of view with them," he said.

"I am lucky that colleagues in my Bureau are really helpful. We enjoy good co-operation in all aspects of work."

Looking ahead, Dr Ho said the Village Representative Bill is only one of the many issues on his agenda.

He must now shift his focus to other pressing concerns, including the most controversial one: whether Hong Kong should provide regulated outlets for soccer betting.
