Senior appointments announced
The Government announced today the appointments of new permanent secretaries for the Civil Service and for Home & Youth Affairs, and of a new Director of Administration & Development at the Department of Justice, a new Commissioner for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and a new Government Chemist.
Succeeding Clement Leung, who will go on pre-retirement leave from Monday, Permanent Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs Shirley Lam will take up the post of Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service.
Permanent Secretary for Security Patrick Li will take up the post of Permanent Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs on the same day.
Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s Office in Beijing Amy Yuen will take up the post of Director of Administration & Development at the Department of Justice on February 9. She will succeed Jessie Wong, who is already on pre-retirement leave.
Deputy Secretary for Development (Works) Pamela Lam will take up the post of Commissioner for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on February 9. She will replace Maisie Chan.
Meanwhile, Assistant Government Chemist Cheung Tsz-chun will take up the post of Government Chemist on February 5. His predecessor Lee Wai-on will begin pre-retirement leave on the same day.
Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung said of the appointments of Ms Lam, Mr Li, Ms Yuen and Miss Lam that they are seasoned Administrative Officers with proven leadership and management skills. She added that she is confident they will continue to serve with professionalism in their new posts.
Commenting on Mr Cheung’s appointment, Mrs Yeung said he possesses profound professional knowledge and experience and has proven leadership and management skills, adding that she is confident he will lead the Government Laboratory to meet the challenges ahead.
Regarding the retirements of the three senior officials, the civil service chief thanked them for each rendering over 30 years of loyal and dedicated service to the community and making significant contributions to the Government. She also wished them a fulfilling and happy retirement.
