Pursuant to the Legislative Council Ordinance, the Chief Executive in Council today specified January 1, 2026, as the commencement date of the eighth-term Legislative Council.

The Chief Executive also specified that the 2026 legislative session will begin on the first Wednesday after the LegCo President is elected. Moreover, the first meeting of the eighth-term LegCo will begin at 11am on the first Wednesday after the LegCo President is elected.
