161 poll nominations ruled valid
The Candidate Eligibility Review Committee has reviewed the nominations of 161 candidates for the 2025 Legislative Council General Election and determined that all are valid.
The Returning Officers for the 10 geographical constituencies, 28 functional constituencies and the Election Committee constituency received a total of 161 nomination forms during the nomination period.
Upon review, the committee considered that all of the candidates met the legal requirements and conditions of upholding the Basic Law and bearing allegiance to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The committee will publish notices in the Government Gazette today detailing the names, addresses and candidate numbers of the 161 individuals.
In addition, starting from tomorrow the Government will hold a series of 39 election forums involving candidates and voters.
The forums will include introductions by candidates, activity from campaign teams, question-and-answer sessions and debate on specified topics. Candidates will be able to present their election platforms, their viewpoints on different topics, and their visions and aspirations.
The forums will be broadcast live on Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) TV 31 and RTHK Radio 1. They will also be streamed on the RTHK website and the Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Bureau's Facebook page.
Separately, the committee published a notice in the Government Gazette today to declare that two registrations of ex-officio Election Committee members are valid.
