Tropical Cyclone Ragasa leaves HK
The Hong Kong Observatory downgraded the storm signal from No. 8 to No. 3, as Tropical Cyclone Ragasa moved away from the city tonight.
The No. 8 Southeast Gale or Storm Signal, issued at 1.20pm was replaced by the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 at 8.20pm.
The Hospital Authority said 59 men and 42 women sought medical treatment at public hospitals due to typhoon-related injuries.
During the storm, the 1823 Government Call Centre and the Fire Services Department received 718 and 498 reports of fallen trees respectively, while the Leisure & Cultural Services Department received eight reports. The Drainage Services Department logged 22 confirmed flooding cases.
Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Department opened 50 temporary shelters, at which 905 people sought refuge.
As the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 will remain in force until at least 7am tomorrow, classes of AM and whole-day kindergartens, schools for children with physical disability and schools for children with intellectual disability will be suspended tomorrow.
Classes of other day schools, including primary and secondary schools, and classes of evening schools will resume tomorrow unless advised otherwise.
If the premises or the surrounding environment of individual schools are still undergoing cleaning or repair works, schools may decide whether to continue to suspend classes tomorrow according to their school-based needs. They should inform all parents and students of the arrangements as soon as possible.
