Senior appointments announced
The Government announced today the appointments of permanent secretaries of the Financial Services & the Treasury Bureau, the Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau and the Commerce & Economic Development Bureau, and of directors of the Information Services Department and the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department.
Director of Lands Andrew Lai Chi-wah will assume the post of Permanent Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury (Treasury) on July 23. He will succeed Cathy Chu, who will proceed on pre-retirement leave on the same day.
Meanwhile, Commissioner for Tourism Vivian Sum will succeed Joe Wong as Permanent Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism on July 29.
Director-General of Trade & Industry Maggie Wong will become Permanent Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development on August 5. She will succeed Eliza Lee, who will proceed on pre-retirement leave.
Deputy Secretary for Security Apollonia Liu will assume the post of Director of Information Services on May 24, succeeding Fletch Chan, while Deputy Director of Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Mickey Lai will succeed Leung Siu-fai as director on May 29.
Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung said of the appointments of Andrew Lai, Vivian Sum, Maggie Wong and Apollonia Liu that they are seasoned Administrative Officers with proven leadership and management skills. She added that she is confident they will continue to serve with professionalism in the new posts.
In reference to Mickey Lai’s appointment, Mrs Yeung said Mr Lai possesses profound professional knowledge and experience and has proven leadership and management skills, adding that she is confident he will lead the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department to face the challenges that lie ahead.
On the retirements of Cathy Chu, Joe Wong, Eliza Lee and Leung Siu-fai, the civil service chief thanked them for each rendering over 30 years of dedicated service to the community and making significant contributions to the Government of Hong Kong.
She wished all four a fulfilling and happy retirement.
