Land scheme attracts 7 applications

May 6, 2024

The Development Bureau today announced that a total of seven applications have been received under the Land Sharing Pilot Scheme (LSPS).

It said it received one of the applications just before the invitation period ended yesterday.

The seven applications cover a total area of about 43 hectares, and would provide a total of more than 32,000 flats, including about 23,300 public housing units.

The application filed yesterday, by Brasilia Limited, is in relation to a site at Fung Ka Wai, Ping Shan, Yuen Long. The site covers about 3.1 hectares and is currently zoned for “Recreation” and “Village Type Development”.

The company proposes to build about 1,500 public housing or Starter Homes units, along with about 700 private housing flats, and supporting facilities, providing total domestic gross floor area of about 117,400 sq m.

The six applications filed earlier have all been given in-principle endorsement by the Government. Applicants have been carrying out in-depth technical assessments, and statutory rezoning procedures for the projects would commence progressively from the second quarter of this year.

The scheme was launched in May 2020 for three years originally. As announced in May 2023, the application period was extended by one year to May 5 of this year.

The bureau said that with Government-led efforts on land creation starting to deliver results, the need to increase the housing supply through the LSPS has already abated. Hence, the application period closed yesterday as planned.
