Electricity relief rates announced
To alleviate the impact of tariff increases on households during the transition to a low-carbon future, the Government will provide relief of $50 per month on electricity charges to eligible residential households for 24 consecutive months from January 2024.
Under the new round of the Government’s Electricity Charges Relief Scheme, it will credit $50 to each residential electricity account with either CLP Power Hong Kong or the Hongkong Electric Company on the first day of each month, to offset charges for electricity consumed under the same account.
Any unused credit can be carried forward to cover billed electricity charges under the same account until December 31, 2025, or the closing of the account, whichever is earlier.
The current round of the relief scheme will end on December 31, 2023. Any unused credit will not be carried forward to the new round of the scheme.
For enquiries, call CLP on 2678 2678 or Hongkong Electric on 2887 3411.
