HK, Mainland explore medical boost

Secretary for Health Prof Lo Chung-mau met a delegation led by Director General of the National Health Commission (NHC)’s Office of Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs Zhang Yang today to exchange views on deepening medical co-operation between the Mainland and Hong Kong.
At the meeting, Prof Lo introduced to the delegation the city’s latest development in various healthcare fields, including the effort put into medical innovation, public health enhancement, hospital management, service quality advancement and organ transplant.
Prof Lo noted that under the principle of complementarity and mutual benefits and on the premise of benefitting the healthcare development of both the Mainland and Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has been working together with various Mainland provinces and cities in reinforcing co-operation on healthcare service development for levelling up the quality of healthcare.
Upon the full resumption of normal travel between the Mainland and Hong Kong earlier this year, the Hong Kong SAR has restored close liaison with the NHC as well as various provinces and cities on healthcare development.
Looking ahead, the Hong Kong SAR Government will remain committed to fostering regional collaboration, thereby enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare services as well as propelling the important national strategy of the Healthy China Initiative through concerted contributions, he added.
