3 senior police to take up new posts

Police today announced that three senior appointments, involving two deputy commissioners and one senior assistant commissioner, will take effect tomorrow.
 
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Management) Chow Yat-ming will assume the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) to replace Yuen Yuk-kin upon the start of his pre-retirement leave.
 
Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Chan Joon-sun has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Police to take up the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Management).
 
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Public Relations) Chan Tung will be promoted to the rank of Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police to take up the post of Director of Operations.
 
Mr Chan Joon-sun joined the force in 1997. His policing experience covers frontline command, criminal intelligence, professional training and policy formulation.
 
He was promoted to Chief Superintendent in 2016 and Assistant Commissioner in 2019. In April 2022, he became Senior Assistant Commissioner, taking up the post of Director of Operations.
 
Mr Chan Tung joined the force in 1996 as an inspector. He has abundant experience in both security and criminal intelligence amassed from extensive episodes of duties in frontline regions and various Police Headquarter Formations.
 
He was seconded to the Security Bureau from 2014 to 2016 and then promoted to Chief Superintendent in 2018. In 2020, he was further advanced to the rank of Assistant Commissioner and took charge of the Security Wing. Moreover, he assumed command of the Public Relations Wing in 2022.
