NSL hailed 3 years after enactment
Heralding the third anniversary of the implementation of the National Security Law (NSL), the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government said today the city must remain vigilant against any attempts to disrupt peace in society or endanger national security again.
In a press release, the Hong Kong SAR Government reminded people that although overall stability has been restored in Hong Kong, they must not let their guards down.
At present, it said, acts of “soft resistance” continue to take place and spread through the Internet and media, creating conflict and even arousing Hong Kong people’s hatred of the central authorities and of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
Some countries and external forces, it continued, have repeatedly exploited incidents and occasions to not only slander the NSL, but also to smear and attack Hong Kong in its dutiful, faithful and lawful implementation of the NSL, in an attempt to undermine the city’s stability and prosperity.
Outlining that the whole of society has a responsibility to protect national security, the press release added that the Hong Kong SAR Government will further strengthen the city’s legal system and enforcement mechanisms for defending national security, whilst also safeguarding the rights and freedoms enjoyed by Hong Kong people in accordance with the law.
The press release also stressed that the Hong Kong SAR Government’s overarching goal is to ensure the steadfast and successful implementation of “one country, two systems”.
