Chief Executive John Lee continued his visit to Chongqing by meeting CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee Secretary Yuan Jiajun and attending the High-Level Meeting & First Plenary Session of the Hong Kong/Chongqing Co-operation Conference.

Mr Lee expressed hope that Hong Kong and Chongqing could strengthen co-operation in areas including the Belt & Road initiative, cultural exchanges and youth development, with a view to better grasping the development opportunities brought about by the National 14th Five-Year Plan, and jointly developing for mutual benefits.

The newly established Hong Kong/Chongqing co-operation conference mechanism is the first new co-operation mechanism set up with Mainland provinces and municipalities since the current-term Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government took office.

At the plenary, Mr Lee and Mr Yuan jointly witnessed the signing of co-operation agreements between Hong Kong and Chongqing.

The Chief Executive also visited the Jinfeng Laboratory to learn about its innovation achievements in biotechnology and medicine. 

He then toured the International Logistics Hub in Inland China Exhibition Centre to find out more about the development of the city's logistics infrastructure.
   
The Chief Executive also paid a visit to Ciqikou Ancient Town, a local cultural and tourism landmark, where he watched cultural performances.

Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Algernon Yau and Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Prof Sun Dong also attended the plenary and joined the visit.
