CE begins visit in Beijing

Chief Executive John Lee today attended the closing meeting of the first session of the 14th National People's Congress and met members of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China (HKCCC) to learn more about the development of Hong Kong enterprises there.
Mr Lee said that over the years, the HKCCC has been supporting the governance of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, uniting Hong Kong people and enterprises in the Mainland, and providing assistance to Hong Kong entrepreneurs in exploring business opportunities and developing their businesses in the Mainland, showing the chamber's care and support for the city.
He emphasised that with the full resumption of normal travel between Hong Kong and the Mainland, he believes more Hong Kong people and entrepreneurs will pursue their careers in the Mainland and proactively grasp the opportunities brought about by national development.
The Chief Executive expressed hope that the chamber will continue to provide assistance to Hong Kong people and business people, and offer valuable advice on facilitating their development in the Mainland.
He also said he is hopeful that the HKCCC, being the representative of Hong Kong people and entrepreneurs in Beijing, will promote to the world Hong Kong's unique advantages of enjoying the strong support of the motherland and being closely connected to the world under “one country, two systems”, telling the good stories of the city.
Mr Lee will start calling on central ministries tomorrow and directors of bureaus will join in on the meetings.
