Youth committee recruitment starts

January 11, 2023

The Home Affairs Department today started the recruitment of young people to join the District Youth Community Building Committee and District Youth Development & Civic Education Committee under a self-nomination scheme. The application period will end on January 27.

The Chief Executive announced in the 2022 Policy Address the launch of a Youth Participation Initiative to engage more young people in public affairs and enhance their interaction with and trust in the Government.

One of the measures under the initiative involves the Home Affairs Department opening up certain seats of the District Youth Community Building Committee and District Youth Development & Civic Education Committee to be set up in 18 districts for young people through self-nomination.

The department encourages young people aged between 16 and 35 who are committed to serving the community to apply for the scheme.

Following the principle of meritocracy, the department aims to recruit young people who have a strong commitment to serve the community, a good understanding of district and youth affairs, and good analytical and communication skills to join the two committees through the scheme.

The application form and details are available online. Applications can be submitted by post, by hand or by email.

Assessment panels will be set up by the 18 district offices to consider applications. The assessment process is expected to be completed by the first quarter.
