Enrolment starts today for a driving instructor refresher course that is scheduled to be rolled out on November 3, the Transport Department announced.

The department explained that the Road Traffic (Driving Licences) (Amendment) Regulation 2021 took effect from December 1, 2021, and there is a 24-month transition period under the provisions for a driving instructor refresher course.

Private driving instructors or restricted driving instructors of designated driving schools who renew their licences on or after December 1, 2023, shall complete the refresher course within three years preceding to the date of the licence renewal, it added.

The eight-hour course is free of charge. Participants who pass the course-end written assessment will receive a course certificate and may renew their driving instructor licences.
